Matt was admitted to the New Brunswick Bar in June 2003.  His practice revolves around the field of civil litigation, employment/labour law and administrative law, with a special focus on workers’ compensation and human rights.  Matt is a tireless advocate for his clients, and has appeared frequently before the Court of Appeal of New Brunswick, the Court of Queen’s Bench, the Federal Court Trial Division, as well as a variety of administrative tribunals.

Education:
Matt completed a Bachelor of Arts at Mount Allison University in 1999, graduating with First Class Honours in History.  He obtained his law degree from the University of New Brunswick in 2002. He was awarded the Lieutenant Governor of New Brunswick Silver Medal for the highest GPA over three years of law school.

Professional Interests:
Matt is a member of the Atlantic Provinces Trial Lawyers Association, and is also the editor of APT Law, the Association’s newsletter.  Matt has been a guest lecturer at University of New Brunswick - Saint John in both the Employment Law and Labour Law courses.  Matt is a member of the Employment, the Labour and Administrative Law and the Young Lawyers sections of the Canadian Bar Association.

Outside Our Office. . .
Matt indulges his creative side by participating in various arts organizations in and around the City of Saint John.  Matt has appeared on stage with the Saint John Theatre Company, KV Players and Opera New Brunswick.  He is the former Treasurer of Opera New Brunswick and continues to sit on their Board of Directors.

Matt also enjoys giving back to the community.  He is immediate past-president of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Saint John, and continues to sit on the Board of Directors.  Matt participates in various charity events each year, including Bowl for Kids Sake, Skate to Care, the Rally of Hope and the Germain Street Open.
