Since his admission to the New Brunswick Bar in 1993, Kelly has practiced extensively in the field of civil litigation and, primarily, in the subjects of labour, employment and human rights. Despite his focus in those fields, Kelly has rounded out his professional experience with work in real estate transactions, corporate and commercial law and even criminal trial work.
Education:
After completing a Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Prince Edward Island, Kelly attended the University of New Brunswick Law School and graduated in 1992. In 2003, he completed a masters degree in employment law at the University of Huddersfield in England.
Always maintaining a keen interest in legal issues, Kelly has continued to conduct academic research in recent years in conjunction with Nottingham Trent University in England. Kelly’s research is under the supervision of Lynette Harris, the deputy chair of ACAS, Great Britain’s national employment dispute resolution service, and Professor John Peysner, a member of the United Kingdom’s Civil Justice Council and, now, Professor of Law at Lincoln University.
Professional Interests:
Beyond work for his clients, Kelly has attempted to do his part for the legal profession by teaching courses and seminars and, also, writing articles and other materials. For example, Kelly has taught courses to organizations including:

- Canadian Association of Statutory Human Rights Agencies
- University of New Brunswick
- New Brunswick Workplace Health, Safety and Compensation Commission
- New Brunswick Human Rights Commission
- New Brunswick Safety Council

His written materials have been published in the Solicitors Journal, the Canadian Bar Review, Workplace Today magazine and other publications. Kelly is also a regular legal columnist on CBC’s Business Network, a nationally broadcasted radio program.
Outside Our Office…
Beyond the walls of Lawson Creamer, Kelly participates in a number of organizations and activities. Most importantly, he enjoys time with his wife Cynthia and their two young sons. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Saint John Regional Hospital Foundation, and makes regular efforts to assist in the advancement of the hospital. Kelly is actively involved in the Anglican Church, he coaches hockey and football teams, he maintains an interest in his preferred sport of rugby and plays the trombone in several bands. He has also been involved in the publication of two books: How To Buy A Great House and How To Live A Great Life.
